Weekly Threats: Recommended New Releases For 12/01/17

Prurient - Rainbow Mirror
Dominick Fernow has recorded experimental music under various names for around 20 years, but his most famous and prolific alias is his noise/power electronics project Prurient.  His latest album "Rainbow Mirror" is over THREE HOURS of excellent doom electronics and is out now on 4XCD and digital through Profound Lore Records, and out on vinyl through Dominick's label Hospital Productions in a humongous 7LP set!

Glassjaw - Material Control
Seminal Post-hardcore band Glassjaw has released "Material Control," their first new album in 15 years! Originally planned as a 'surprise' for their hardcore fans, the album was meant to be sent out as playable flexi disc “postcards” to them as a thank you until their label Century Media accidentally leaked the album titled and tracklist.  They have only previously released two other full lengths, but their EPs and legendary live shows has given the band cult status, so needless to say their latest is highly anticipated and a long time coming.

Pete Rock - Lost Sessions
Pete Rock should require no introduction, legendary producer/rapper, solo artist, one half of Pete Rock & CL Smooth, the man behind such legendary tracks as Biggie's "Juicy" (the remix or the original, depending on who you're asking) A Tribe Called Quest's “Jazz (We’ve Got It) Buggin’ Out” and Nas' “The World Is Yours."  "Lost Sessions" is Chocolate Boy Wonder’s mid-nineties work from his InI era.  10 tracks of history available now.

DJ Krush - History Hip Hop
This week seems to be the week of legendary artist releases.  Japanese experimental Hip Hop producer DJ Krush has put out a new album with little to no press.  Eight of the eleven tracks features M.Caroselli and is a little removed from the Trip Hop he is known for, but it's still some of the finest instrumental music you'll find.
