Experimental music lovers will be treated to yet another incredible festival next month when the second annual Neon Marshmallow Fest comes to the Empty Bottle in Chicago from June 10-12. Sadly this means that it conflicts with the Utech Records Music Festival in Milwaukee but if you must go to that (which is understandable) you can still catch the Sunday and Friday shows of the Neon Marshmallow Fest. Those that goes to both will be treated to a double dose of James Plotkin who is scheduled to play the fest on Friday.
I am personally most excited to see harsh noise wall legend The Rita on Sunday and most disappointed that I will miss Sword Heaven on Saturday. According to Sword Heaven’s Myspace one of their members will be moving out of the country soon so this could very well be their last show. Saturday will be a tough choice for concert goers. Here’s more about the fest and you can see the full 3 day line up after the jump:
“Neon Marshmallow is an international experimental festival that was created and curated by Daniel Smith & Matthew Kimmel in 2010.
The event focuses on a wide variety of electronic and electro-acoustic music, ranging from noise and free jazz to EAI and music concrete. The inaugural event was held the Viaduct Theater in Chicago from August 19-22. Comprised of five shows in four days, the 2010 edition hosted 105 performances. Some of the most cutting edge sound artists and experimental musicians from Australia, Belgium, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the U.S. were united under one roof.”
