I saw these guys play the other day and they just blew me away! Rectal Hygienics was formed by various members of the underground Chicago scene and they play a sludgy blend of disgusting noise punk that’s heavy on the filth and light on the frills. This is no-nonsense noise rock with emphasis on the noise. They don’t play riffs so much as bludgeon feedback into the lifeless husk of what would be guitar sound, and the power electronics-style vocals are delivered in a kind of confessional manner that humanizes yet belies its vile and offensive subject matter. “Even the Flies Won’t Touch You” is a violent dirge that slowly drags cacophony and dirt with it to an early grave.
