Poster & Trailer for new Godzilla 2014 Movie Leaks

Godzilla fans are still reeling from the abomination released by TriStar Pictures in 1998 (don't even get me started on the Puff Diddy soundtrack) so you can understand Toho Company's hesitation to release the rights to another English language adaptation.  In fact, after 2004's Godzilla: Final Wars (released on the 50th anniversary of the Godzilla film frandchise) Toho announced that they would not put out another Godzilla movie for another 10 years.  

It looks like they're taking it seriously this time because they've stuck to their guns and their 2014 deadline.  They've snagged relatively unknown British director Gareth Edwards and partnered with Legendary Pictures the film production company behind Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy.  The poster (above) and trailer debuted at the San Diego Comic Con this weekend (news that I heard while attending this year's G-Fest in Chicago.)  We'll post the trailer as soon as it comes out on Youtube, for now we can be satisfied with this screen capture from the trailer of Godzilla's silhouette.  Let's hope they get it right this time (*UPDATE: Looks like they set the release date for May 16th, 2014.)

    I liked the Godzilla by Roland Emmerich. I like his movies, the way he projects disaster (no pun intended). If he had made godzilla today, it would have been a whole lot different movie. In fact, the 1998 Roland Emmerich's Godzilla made the money to be declared a hit. It is better than those non-sense suit up japanese godzilla movies.

      the suits are godzilla, a scared ass reptile with no backbone ain't very impressive, it was a bad movie released when godzilla hype was still a real thing, it was an okay monster, but a complete trash godzilla.

      How could you say it's better? Opinions are great things, but abusing them like that is a bit ridiculous in itself. The suit-Godzillas were the best. They practically define the genre they represent. There is definitely nothing wrong with the old Godzilla, with or without nostalgia goggles. There's nothing wrong with Roland's Zilla as a stand alone monster, but it was rather jarring to compare it to the original, which is why it's better that it's been recognized as its own sub-species kaiju.

      Emmerich KILLED him. He murdered the monster. In fact the godzilla in 98 looked more like something that one wipes off of their shoe after stepping in it. It was a decent movie storywise but that was NOT godzilla. I have learned to respect it's story but as far as I am concerned it is NOT GODZILLA!!!

    I loved Gojira (Japanese) version I grew up on Godzilla king of the monsters. Today. I can't watch it too much diolog. I love Godzilla films until jurrasic park. The man in the suite died 1998 version of Godzilla I must confess I was disgusted about it. They made him a animal instead of a monster. Now I can watch it its in my Godzilla collection. I hope the 2014 version is terrifying as the 1954 Gojira version was.

    Yes! They better not screw up this time like that 1998 one but they need to project a very dark tone as in Gojira.
