METALLIANCE TOUR Chicago Stop Moved Due To Gang Shooting

Well it’s good to know that I can count on Howl’s Facebook page to inform me that the show I bought tickets for this Sunday has been moved. No email notice from the ticket sellers or promoters as of yet, I guess that’s what us blogs is for huh? The Joliet/Chicago area stop of The Metalliance Tour has been moved due to good ol Chicago gang violence – see the info below for details and click the jump for remaining dates of the tour and news of the shooting from the Herald/Sun Times:

“THE 2011 METALLIANCE TOUR will have to move their Chicago show this Sunday due to recent gang-related activity in the vicinity of the venue. The city has imposed a seven day hold on the venue's operations license forcing the show to a new venue called BADA BREW (802 Theodore Street). The show will go on as scheduled. All tickets will be honored.

“JOLIET — The city’s first all-ages night club was shut down today after a weekend gang fight.

Acting in his capacity as liquor commissioner, Mayor Arthur Schultz ordered Mojoes closed for seven days.

Mojoes has been open for two months after the city council in January approved a new type of liquor license authorizing events attended by minors and adults in the club in downtown Joliet.

The fight early Sunday morning, however, was not at an all-ages event. The club also is authorized to operate as a regular bar with entertainment. Minors are only allowed during designated all-ages events.

The fight started inside the club at 22 W. Cass St. and spilled out into the street, where a handgun was fired at least six times, according to police. No one was shot.
Meanwhile, police say they are investigating witness reports that another fight may have occurred in the bar earlier the same night.

“Several witnesses have indicated to us during the investigation of the shooting that there may have been a physical altercation at Mojoes earlier, and this may have stemmed from that earlier altercation,” police Chief Fred Hayes said.
Bars are required to report all fights to police. Hayes said police did not get a call from Mojoes about another fight that night.

Hayes said the fight police responded to started with an argument in the bar. Members of a street gang were questioning the gang affiliation of another patron, he said, with five or six people involved in the argument that led to the fight. Two people were arrested after the fight.

Jason D. Palomino, 28, of 500 W. Jefferson St., was arrested on charges of reckless discharge of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and aggravated assault. Marcus T. Alexander, 26, of 413 Oneida St. was arrested for obstructing a police officer.

Mojoes must remain closed until 4:30 p.m. March 29, according to the liquor commissioner’s order. A hearing on the order will be scheduled. Mojoes’ owners and their attorney declined to comment.”
