I'm gonna kick myself for the rest of my life for not being able to make it to the "Every Drop Counts" Haiti benefit last night. It might be the biggest "L" I've taken thus far because not only was it an amazing charitable event, but it was the night Rhymefest announced that him, JUICE, Mikkey Halsted & Twone Gabz are forming a group. Four of Chicago's legendary lyricists performed over the instrumental to LL Cool J's classic posse cut "4,3,2,1" during Rhymefest's set and announced that they will be releasing an album sometime this Summer. This is hot on the heels of JUICE and Rhymefest squashing their long-standing beef.
I don't know about ya'll but this is HUGE news to me, the pedigree here is phenomenal, JUICE is a legendary battle rapper most famous for beating Eminem and Lil' Wayne himself has name-checked Mikkey Halsted as an influence. Rhymefest is arguably the most famous of the bunch & helped pen Kanye's hit "Jesus Walks" and Twone Gabz is a beast on the mic too. In this "post-Slaughterhouse" world this group has a chance of making it big if they stick together. And if they stick together they also have more of a chance of makin me pissed off at myself for missing it's genesis. Bittersweet dopeness. Check out the video here (Hard to judge since I wasn't there myself but the crowd sounded awful quiet for such a huge event, hopefully that's just the video)
